American Studies Association

The American Studies student club, which is officially named the American Studies Association (ASA) of Western, aims to provide a place for students interested in American Studies to discuss and explore the North American cultural, political, and social identity, while serving as a point of contact between faculty and students. The club provides a social and academic platform for students to enrich their understanding, explore their interests, and participate in events and activities. Trivia Night - April 7, 2014

The CAS student club hosted an "All American" Trivia Night on Monday, April 7, 5:30pm at The Wave. About 50 students and faculty came out to test their knowledge of American history, geography, literature, entertainment, and popular culture. Thanks to our wonderful hosts Professors Don Abelson and Tom Cull! This event was sponsored by the Social Science Student Donation Fund and the Centre for American Studies.

The student club hosted a Wine & Cheese Social at The Wave on Monday, March 25, 2013, 5:00-7:00pm. The event is sponsored by generous donations from the Social Science Student Donation Fund, and the Society of Graduate Students.

ASA Members Meet with U.S. Military Legislative Assistant

American Studies Association and Political Science Association students held an impromptu meeting with Eric Sayers on October 31. Eric, a Military Legislative Assistant in Washington DC, and a former Western student was in town to participate in the Centre for American Studies panel discussion on the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election.
