When can I apply to the American Studies program?

  • You can apply to enter an American Studies degree module after you have completed 5.0 credits in first year. Students choose their degree module for the following year during the Intent to Register period held every year in February.

What programs are offered in American Studies?

  • Honours Specializations in American Cultural Studies, Major and Minor.

Can other courses be counted if they are not listed in the module?

  • Some courses not listed in the modules may be allowed to count towards the degree with special permission. Please check with the Undergraduate Program Advisor.

Can courses be double counted?

  • Some departments will allow 1.0 course to count towards two majors. Please check with the Undergraduate Program Advisor.

Can I take a course at an affiliate college?

  • Students are permitted to take a maximum of 1.0 course at an affiliate college.Students may need permission from their home faculty.

Can I take an American Studies course if I don't have the prerequisite?

  • Students may be able to enroll in an American Studies course with special permission, and if space permits.Please check with the Undergraduate Program Advisor.

Can I switch to an American Studies module in my 3rd or 4th year?

  • It is possible to change your module to American Studies in your 3rd or 4th year. Please check with the Undergraduate Program Advisor. You may have taken some courses in your current program which can be counted towards the American Studies degree.
